No admission offer has been cancelled – JAMB

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday allayed fears of candidates whose admission fate had been kept in the balance because of the prolonged strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

The Board said despite the strikes that had affected the academic calendar from 2020 till date, no offer of admission made by it to candidates who wrote the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination had been cancelled.

ASUU had gone on strike for ten months in 2020 during the outbreak of COVID-19.

Registrar/Chief Executive of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede disclosed these shortly before he declared open the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) in Abuja.

He said the senate of universities was responsible for admission, adding that the role of JAMB was to supervise the process to ensure that candidates were not shortchanged.
