Many JAMB candidates are often confused about profile codes, especially when they do not gain admission in a particular year and plan to try again the following year. Questions like “Do I need to generate another profile code?” or “Can I use a different phone number?” are very common. To avoid mistakes that can delay or completely disrupt your admission process, it is important to understand how JAMB profile codes work.

(1)You can use the profile code you generated in 2025 for the 2026 JAMB.

Once a profile code is generated, it is permanently linked to your personal details on the JAMB database. If you did not gain admission in 2025, there is no need to generate a new profile code for 2026. You simply reuse the same profile code during registration. Reason being that, JAMB uses the profile code as a unique identity for each candidate.

(2) You cannot use another phone number to generate a profile code for 2026 if you already generated one in 2025.

You must use the same phone number.The phone number used to generate your profile code is also permanently linked to your JAMB profile. Reason being that, JAMB communicates important information such as profile code confirmation, examination details, and admission updates through that number.
