ASUU BEGINS NATIONWIDE STRIKE OVER UNPAID SALARIES
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has asked its members across Nigeria to go on strike because their June 2025 salaries have not been paid.
Universities like UNIJOS and UniAbuja have already joined the strike. ASUU says it’s following a rule that if salaries are delayed by more than three days, lecturers will stop working.
ASUU President, Prof. Chris Piwuna, said the delay is not caused by technical issues but by government officials refusing to release funds on time. He also warned that the government still owes lecturers ₦10 billion in allowances.
Unless salaries are paid, ASUU members in unpaid universities will remain on strike.
